Technical Support Analyst

Department: Network

Reports To: Network Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Summary

Provide technical support efficiently and effectively on all WRT product and services, resolving external and internal customer problems in an ever changing environment.

Essential Job Function

• Provides technical support on all WRT product and services to external and internal customers by answering phone calls, gathering relevant information, and troubleshooting and resolving problems and issues
• Researches complex problems and issues to determine solutions.
• Updates customer account information as appropriate.
• Configures equipment to activate product and services for WRT customers
• Assists customers with computer system setup and related devices.
• Work with vendor of internal software systems that configure product and services.
• Proactively cross sells WRT products and services.
• Maintains and ensures security of all WRT computers.
• May install IP network devices.
• May develop and conduct training programs for employees and customers.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of computer operating systems.
• Knowledge of Web technologies, technical languages, browsers, search procedures, search engines, platforms and applications.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN technology and computer hardware and software.
• Knowledge of Internet protocols such as TCP/IP and hardware devices such as modems, switches, routers, servers, firewalls, etc.
• Knowledge of telecommunications billing, customer service and plant functions.
• Knowledge of company products and services.
• Knowledge and skill in operating technology gadgets including scanners, digital cameras, OTT devices, printers, and applications, etc.
• Skill in problem solving and resolution.
• Ability to communicate with customers, co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
• Ability to effectively function as a team player.
• Ability to be self-motivated, enthusiastic and passionate about WRT’s sales culture.
• Ability to think progressively and innovately while quickly grasping and synthesizing new ideas.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by WRT’s insurance carrier.

Education and Experience

Two years of specialized training or degree in computer science, computer information systems or related field. One to two years of experience in customer service preferred.

Reporting Requirements

Reports to WRT Headquarters in Hazen, ND and must reside within WRT service area.

Construction & Engineering Manager

Department: Outside Plant

Reports To: Operations Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

General Summary

Supervises all plant facility construction projects, including improvement and maintenance of plant facilities. Supervises Construction Technicians, OSP Clerks, and Field Engineers.

Essential Job Function

• Successfully meet or exceed department goals, while maintaining quality standards, controlling expenses, and following WRT department’s directives and practices.
• Schedules and assigns tasks to appropriate construction crew(s), oversees and inspects construction crews to ensure construction jobs are completed in a timely and accurate manner, and verifies the procedures are followed and completed.
• Assigns tasks to Field Engineers for facility design, acquiring ROW, calling in locates and ensuring materials are available.
• Communicates to the department and other departments with expected information.
• Train department personnel to a level that will maximize productivity.
• Responds promptly to outside plant emergency calls as needed.
• Reviews contracts, negotiates contracts, and oversee contractor installation of facilities by inspecting installation, verifying tabulation of contractor staking sheets and reviewing invoices.
• Ensures quality customer service by responding to customer complaints concerning construction.
• Makes recommendations to Operations Manager for improvements to department policies and procedures.
• Analyzes OSP Facility capacities and forecasts usage to determine required construction engineering projects.
• Ensure plant records are accurately entered in the records system in a timely manner and are available for dissemination to necessary personnel.
• May perform the duties of a Field Engineer when required.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of construction practices and industry regulations affecting engineering projects.
• Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations.
• Knowledge of test equipment, switches, electronic equipment and all types of cable.
• Knowledge of telecommunications equipment operations and maintenance.
• Knowledge of company products and services.
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of RUS practices and standards.
• Skill in the use of IVUE program including Facility Management and Mapwise.
• Skill in the use of Microsoft Office.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in the use of North Dakota and South Dakota One-Call Systems.
• Skill in problem solving and resolution.
• Skill to read and interpret documents such as maps, staking sheets, and operating and maintenance instruction manuals.
• Ability to communicate with co-workers and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner.
• Ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions using information at hand.
• Ability to create a team environment and sustain employee morale.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable by WRT’s insurance carrier.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience plus seven to ten years of experience preforming the above job functions.
